Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding delegation level talks with Belarus President Aleksandr Grigoryevich Lukashenko in New Delhi. During the talks, the two sides are expected to discuss bilateral cooperation in defence and security, trade and investment, science & technology and people to people exchanges.
They are also likely to exchange views and assessments on regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. A number of agreements are expected to be signed in several areas after the talks.
A business forum and parallel meetings organized for the members of the large delegation accompanying President Lukashenko would explore business opportunities and cooperation avenues.
Earlier, in the morning, Mr Lukashenko was given ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He also laid wreath at Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi, Rajghat. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and External Affairs Minister called on the visiting dignitary.
AIR correspondent reports, Mr Lukashenko’s visit is significant as it taking place in a year when Belarus and India are celebrating 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Mr Lukashenko had arrived in New Delhi last night.
