Gujarat Floods: 23000 more people shifted to safer places during last 24 hours

In Gujarat, 23 thousand more people have been shifted to the safer places during the last 24 hours from the flood hit areas. With this, total number of people evacuated during the last five days has gone up to 53 thousand. One thousand persons have been rescued in Banaskantha and Patan districts in North Gujarat during the last 24 hours.

According to state relief Commissioner Mr. A.J.Shah, following the death of one persons, the total death toll due to rain related deaths during the current monsoon has gone up to 83. Total 500 roads are closed in flood hit areas including 6 national highways and 26 state highways.

About 492 villages have no power supply, out of which 418 villages are in Banaskantha district.  reports that different agencies are busy in distributing food packets, drinking waters and other essential commodities to the flood affected people.
