J&K: Army jawan martyred, girl killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Poonch

An army jawan was martyred while a girl was killed in Pakistani shelling in Balakote area of Bhimber Gali sector in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir today.

Pakistan army resorted to mortar shelling and firing a long Line of Control in Bhimber Gali sector which falls in both Rajouri and Poonch districts, targeting forward defence locations and civilian areas.

The shelling prompted an effective retaliation from the Indian troops. Defence sources told that Pakistani troops started unprovoked shelling in the area around 7:30 am. Intermittent exchanges were continuing when last reports came in.

The martyred army jawan Naik Muddasar Ahmed died when a Pakistani mortar shells landed on his bunker inflicting fatal injuries. 37 years old Ahmed belonged to Village Duchoo, Tehsil Tral, District Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.
